Medical Response Team

The Medical Response Team (MRT) is a group of specially trained individuals who bring critical-care expertise to the patient. The purpose of the team is to quickly check the condition of the patient and provide help before there is a medical emergency.

Call the MRT if:

  • staff or a family member is worried about a patient
  • there is an acute change in:
  • heart rate
  • blood pressure
  • respiratory rate
  • oxygen saturation level
  • level of consciousness

Nurse Bedside Shift Report

As part of our mission to improve the health and well-being of the people we serve, you and your guests may participate in Nurse Bedside Shift Report. This occurs at shift change when the nurses gather by your bed to discuss your care.

The nurse going off duty and the nurse coming on duty will:

  • introduce themselves to you and your guest
  • invite you and a loved one or visitor to take part
  • discuss your health, including the reason you are in the hospital and what is going on with your care
  • check the medications you are taking, your IV, injuries and bandages
  • follow up on any tests or lab work ordered
  • ask if you have questions and what your goals are for the next 12 hours
  • discuss expected date of discharge
  • address any concerns about caring for yourself when you leave the hospital

Call Early, Call Often

If you’re concerned, so are we! If you need the MRT, call ext. 1-4MRT from a hospital phone or 731.541.4678, and say the room number and name of patient.
