Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, currently a 771-bed hospital across two locations, began operating in 1950 and serves as the largest hospital for West Tennessee Healthcare, a public, not-for-profit healthcare system providing a full continuum of care. The system has over 7,000 employees and has facilities serving more than 500,000 people in 19 counties throughout West Tennessee and Southeast Missouri.


Jackson-Madison County General Hospital offers a full range of medical and surgical services, including 24-hour emergency care; neonatal intensive care; robotic surgery and advanced diagnostic services, including MRI, nuclear medicine, CT and interventional radiology. 


In its continuing efforts to discover innovative ways to improve the quality of patient care, Jackson-Madison County General Hospital collaborates with University Medical Centers in Tennessee on educational programs, clinical research, the development of new information technology tools and more. With the help of over 400 skilled physicians, the hospital constantly strives for new and enhanced ways to deliver quality healthcare and an excellent experience to its patients and families.


Jackson-Madison County General Hospital is self-supporting and does not operate on local tax revenues. Oversight of the facility is provided by a Board of Trustees appointed by the City of Jackson and Madison County.
